Getting ready for Singapore Marathon – Part II

homer

As a fitness trainer and a Corporate Athlete, I have the privilege to ‘experiment’ myself in races. The more I spend time on racing, the better I get to know my bodily systems. This is super important as we are all born different from one another. A technique that applies well to oneself does not necessarily mean that it will do the same to another person. The way we stride in running is different from one another. Some are more comfortable in midfoot running, some heel running and some forefoot running. While there are studies that prove one technique is better than the other, however, it is the runner him/herself that needs to know which technique that suits them better, while ensuring the least pain and zeroing the injuries.  As for me, I’m still experimenting few other techniques onto myself. (well, I did mostly heel running in my KLIM mid this year).

I even wore tennis shoes for my run in the KLIM and it was proven to be ‘racing-friendly’ with no injuries recorded. While hi tech shoes are important to suit the runner’s running style, it is also important for runners to run correctly. This is the area that I’m still learning, and I can only learn it through hours of racing and training. I know a strong runner named Devi that runs shoeless in runs (or marathons) and always end-up on podium.

I even tried different ORS and food in my previous marathon. So what’s new in this upcoming Singapore Marathon? With tennis shoes still accompanying me (hope so, or I may change my mind  … hehhehe), I’m blessed with some mini sponsors – NACOX natural joint supplement from Alterni (check out end of this entry for some savings), the Buff headwear from Corezone and a delicious Monavie concentrated juice of the Brazilian açai berry from States (Thanks to Feena for the sponsorship).

Great news.

CA members will get double loyalty points worth upto RM15 (savings upto 20%) when they purchase NACOX. At the end of the 5th box, CA members will be able to use the loyalty points to redeem 1 box of NACOX for free.

There are other benefits and on-going promotion which CA members are entitled when they join ALTERNI to purchase NACOX. There are no membership fees charged. CA members may call ALTERNI Customer Care Centre @ 03-79652888 and look for Ms Wai Leng for more info.
